Although Bitcoin (BTC) reached new all-time highs in 2025, it experienced a major crash in its final months. This caused BTC to end the year in negative territory.
After recent declines, Bitcoin made a strong start to 2026. The price rose above $94,000 before falling back to around $90,000 in the last 24 hours.
However, one analyst predicted that significant increases could occur in 2026.
According to Jesse Myers, Head of Bitcoin Strategy at Smarter Web Company, Bitcoin has historically experienced strong gains in the years following annual losses.

At this point, the analyst stated that Bitcoin recorded negative annual returns in 2014, 2018, 2022, and 2025, but recovered by 35%, 95%, and 156% in the years following these periods, respectively. While Bitcoin closed 2025 with negative returns, the analyst, based on the historical model, expects a similar recovery in 2026.
With an average return on investment of approximately 95%, Myers argues that a similar upward trend could continue this year.
