US President Donald Trump, in statements regarding the ongoing conflict with Iran, said the war could be short. Trump described the operation against Iran as a “short-term operation,” while claiming the US had made significant progress in military operations.
In his statement, Trump said the military campaign against Iran was progressing faster than expected, adding, “This will be a short-term operation.” Claiming that the US had achieved significant success in its operations, Trump stated, “So far, so good. We’ve really accomplished something significant.”
The US President also claimed that Iran’s drone and missile capabilities had been targeted and largely neutralized. Trump alleged that US forces destroyed 46 Iranian naval vessels in just three and a half days.
While Trump indicated the war could end soon, he added that the US had not yet achieved its objectives. “We haven’t won enough yet,” Trump said, adding that the Washington administration would continue operations until Iran was completely defeated.
Referring to political developments in Iran, Trump stated that support was forming around a new hardline leader in the country, but added that it was unclear who Iran’s future leader would be.
Meanwhile, a large explosion has been reported in Tehran, the capital of Iran, and the sound of warplanes has been heard over the city.
