Cardano (ADA) Founder Charles Hoskinson: “If Satoshi Nakamoto’s Identity Is Revealed, Bitcoin Will Be Doomed”
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson, a controversial figure in the cryptocurrency sector, said that revealing the identity of Bitcoin’s anonymous founder, Satoshi Nakamoto, would pose a serious threat to the Bitcoin protocol.
Hoskinson, in a live broadcast, argued that Bitcoin’s greatest strength is “the fact that its founder is unknown.” Stating that “it’s a very good thing that Bitcoin doesn’t have a founder,” Hoskinson continued:
“As soon as a founding figure is identified, a large group emerges that dedicates their lives to attacking that person. If that person is ‘white, male’ like Adam Back, the entire ‘woke’ movement springs into action: they say, ‘Patriarchy is showing itself again.’ The most brilliant thing Satoshi did was to step back from the scene after launching the project.”
Hoskinson also admitted that cryptocurrency founders envied Satoshi’s “luxury of anonymity.” Using his own project, Cardano, as an example, Hoskinson said, “People hate Cardano because they hate me. But Cardano is a protocol; thousands of people have worked on it, written code, and developed it. Cardano does not equal Charles Hoskinson.”
Hoskinson stated that Satoshi recognized this strategy very early on and deliberately withdrew from the “lights” as Bitcoin rose. Arguing that the “mystical aura” that anonymity brought to Bitcoin would disappear if the founder’s identity were revealed, Hoskinson issued the following warning:
“Revealing Satoshi’s identity would not benefit Bitcoin in any way. On the contrary, it would severely damage the credibility of the protocol.”
