US President Donald Trump made noteworthy statements regarding the ongoing tensions and ceasefire talks with Iran. Trump described Iran’s latest offer as “completely unacceptable” and “a foolish proposal,” while stating that the possibility of a diplomatic solution remains on the table.
Trump reiterated that they would not allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons, saying, “We have a plan regarding Iran.” He argued that the US was acting in the name of global security. The US President also claimed that the Iranian side had at one point said that the US could provide nuclear materials, but later reneged on its previous stance. Trump complained that the Tehran administration first reached an agreement with Washington and then changed its position.
Referring to the ceasefire process, Trump said the current ceasefire was “incredibly weak” and “on life support.” Despite this, he stated that the possibility of a diplomatic solution remained, and argued that oil and gasoline prices would fall sharply once the Iran crisis ended.
Trump also stated that some countries would continue to buy US oil even after the Strait of Hormuz was reopened. Speaking about the expected official document from Iran, Trump said, “We waited four days for a document that should take less than 10 minutes to prepare.”
