Strategy Purchases 2.6x More Bitcoin Than Miners Produce in 2026
The world’s largest Bitcoin treasury and business intelligence firm, Strategy, has revealed its total Bitcoin purchase of 2026, scooping up all Bitcoin mined this year and more.
This has followed several weeks and months of steady Bitcoin accumulation as the firm continued to show strong conviction in the world’s largest cryptocurrency.
Strategy acquires 171,238 Bitcoin since 2026 began
On Wednesday, May 27, Strategy revealed that it had bought more Bitcoin than miners on the network had produced so far in 2026.
The company further shared data that shows that it has acquired a total of 171,238 $BTC in 2026 YTD, spanning between January 1 and May 26, 2026.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin miners have only generated 65,700 $BTC during the same period. As such, the company has purchased 2.6 times more Bitcoin than miners produced so far this year.
This shows that Strategy has absorbed all Bitcoin supplied this year and more from the assets brought forward from the past year.
While the statistics have fueled discussions across the crypto market, it further proves Strategy’s dominance in institutional scale Bitcoin accumulation.
Strategy retains conviction despite market volatility
Strategy has maintained its lead in institutional conviction in the leading cryptocurrency as the firm has continued to purchase the asset despite the extreme market volatility seen earlier this year.
With its aggressive Bitcoin purchases, Strategy already owns over 843,000 Bitcoin, which marks about 4% of the total amount of Bitcoin in circulation and it appears that the firm is headed for more.
