Bitcoin Price Prediction: $73K Breakout Could Open the Door to $85K

On July 21, 2026 by voice

Bitcoin is building momentum above its short-term moving averages, with the 200-day SMA near $73,000 now coming into view. If $BTC clears that resistance, analysts see room for the recovery to extend toward $80,000–$85,000.

Bitcoin Eyes $73,000 as Bullish Momentum Builds

Bitcoin is showing signs of strengthening after closing above its short-term moving averages. Super฿ro noted that $BTC has reclaimed every exponential moving average from the five-day through the 50-day, suggesting buyers are gaining control after the recent recovery.

The daily chart also shows bullish crosses among the shorter simple moving averages. The 10-day SMA has moved above the 20-day SMA, while Bitcoin is holding above both averages. This structure supports further upside, provided $BTC continues closing above the $63,000–$64,000 region.

However, the 200-day SMA near $72,800 remains the main obstacle. Before reaching it, Bitcoin may face resistance around $67,500–$70,500, where an unfilled fair value gap sits. A decisive breakout through this zone could open the path toward the 200-day SMA, while rejection may send $BTC back to retest its reclaimed moving averages.

Bitcoin Rally Could Extend Toward $85,000

Bitcoin could rally toward $80,000–$85,000 over the next two to three months, according to analyst Michaël van de Poppe. He identifies this range as the next major resistance zone following Bitcoin’s broader market downturn.

The target aligns with Bitcoin’s declining 50-week moving average. Van de Poppe noted that this indicator often acts as resistance during the first recovery rally after a bear market ends.

The weekly chart supports a rebound scenario, but Bitcoin must first reclaim its shorter weekly moving average and break the previous local high near $75,000. Failure to overcome these levels could delay the move toward the 50-week average and keep $BTC in a wider consolidation.
