Blackrock's IBIT Captures $479M as Bitcoin ETFs Extend Streak

On August 8, 2026 by voice

A Fifth Day, Right on Schedule

The latest numbers mark the fifth straight trading day of net inflows for U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs and the fourth for their Ether counterparts. Weekly bitcoin ETF inflows have now topped $750 million, a pace that would have looked out of reach a month earlier.

The streak traces back to Monday, August 3, and has run through Friday without a single down day. This lies in stark contrast to the choppy, stop-start pattern that defined bitcoin ETF flows for most of the year. Solana and XRP ETF products, by comparison, logged effectively zero net change on August 7.

Blackrock’s IBIT did the heavy lifting and over the Monday-through-Wednesday stretch that kicked off the current run, IBIT alone captured $479 million of the $626 million in total bitcoin ETF inflows (roughly 76% of everything that came in).

Fidelity’s FBTC added $19.6 million over the same three days, ARK 21Shares’ ARKB brought in $9.2 million, and Bitwise’s BITB added $8.7 million. Lastly, it bears mentioning that Grayscale’s older GBTC product has now shed a cumulative $27.47 billion since its ETF conversion in early 2024.

Ether’s Streak Has the Same Shape

The Ether side of the rally follows an almost identical pattern to bitcoin’s. On August 5, spot Ether ETFs added $60.86 million in total, and Blackrock’s ETHA alone brought in $50.34 million of that (about 83%). Fidelity’s FETH managed just $2.87 million, while Bitwise’s ETHW and 21Shares’ TETH each pulled in roughly $1.3 million. Blackrock’s staked-ether fund, ETHB, added a further $4.94 million on top of ETHA’s haul.

That lopsided split means the “four straight days” of Ether ETF inflows is, in practice, mostly a Blackrock story layered on top of a bitcoin one. Smaller issuers are technically participating in the streak, but the dollar amounts involved are thin enough that a single large Blackrock allocation on any given day can single-handedly decide whether the category posts a green or red session.

What’s Fueling the Rebound

The recovery follows a rough stretch where spot bitcoin ETFs recorded $5.4 billion in net outflows during the first half of 2026, their first negative half-year since the products launched in early 2024. A seven-session inflow streak in July that had briefly restored confidence, collecting nearly $1 billion, but snapped abruptly on July 24 with a single-day outflow of $225.18 million (only for buyers to return in the first week of August).

Part of the renewed appetite seems to be regulatory, given that asset manager Franklin Templeton has pointed to the prospect of federal crypto market-structure rules as a potential turning point, posturing it as a shift that could eventually open bank balance-sheet liquidity to the asset class for the first time.

Weak U.S. jobs data released this week also boosted rate-cut expectations, lifting risk appetite across equities and crypto alike; the S&P 500 closed the week at a record high alongside the ETF rebound.

Whether the streak extends into a second week depends largely on whether Blackrock’s flows hold up once the current wave of institutional rebalancing runs its course. Five days of gains is a meaningfully longer run than anything bitcoin ETFs managed in the back half of July, but the category has swayed between multi-week win streaks and abrupt reversals all year.
