Metaplanet, a Japanese company that places Bitcoin at the center of its institutional treasury strategy, has transferred a significant amount of $BTC. According to information reported by the on-chain data analytics platform Lookonchain, the company sent a total of 3,881 Bitcoin to external wallets in the last three hours. The total value of the transferred assets is estimated to be approximately $247.3 million.

This move stands out as a noteworthy action for Metaplanet in terms of Bitcoin asset management. The purpose of the transfers to external wallets has not yet been officially explained by the company. Therefore, it remains unclear whether the transactions were carried out as part of a sale, custody arrangement, or other institutional operation.

Metaplanet has recently accelerated its Bitcoin purchases, solidifying its position among the world’s leading institutional $BTC holders. According to Lookonchain data, the company’s total Bitcoin holdings have reached 43,000 $BTC. The average cost of acquiring these assets is approximately $96,191 per Bitcoin.

The recent declines in Bitcoin prices have resulted in significant unrealized losses in the company’s portfolio. According to current data, Metaplanet’s unrealized loss on its Bitcoin position is estimated at approximately $1.4 billion. This figure represents a loss of approximately 34% compared to the company’s total Bitcoin cost.
