659 Days Left: Bitcoin Cools to $63,649 as New Halving Cycle Takes Shape
The leading cryptocurrency has quietly crossed an important halfway point, starting the countdown to a new four-year cycle under unique market conditions. Less than two years remain until Bitcoin’s fifth halving — the scheduled reduction in the issuance of new coins by half.
According to fresh data from CryptoQuant analyst Maartunn, the Bitcoin network is currently at block 955,108. This means that exactly 94,892 blocks remain to be mined before the coveted block 1,050,000, where the miner reward will be reduced.
At the network’s average rate of 10 minutes per block, the countdown stands at around 659 days, or 1.8 years, placing the event in spring 2028. At the next halving, the block reward will fall from the current 3.125 $BTC to 1.5625 $BTC, making the asset even scarcer.

Bitcoin enters this 659-day countdown in a phase of pronounced technical cooling. The TradingView chart shows that the price has corrected to $63,649, falling below its moving averages on the MA Ribbon.
Meanwhile, the weekly Relative Strength Index, or RSI, has dropped to 39.64, confirming a significant market reset after previous peaks and forming the current base of a new cycle.
How to outplay the crowd?
Investors usually apply a front-running strategy ahead of a halving, buying coins early to get in before market supply declines and the price begins to rise. This is a classic strategy that has worked for years.
This time, however, Maartunn raises an entirely different question: How do you get ahead of those who plan to buy early?
Because the rules of the game and the exact timing are known to everyone, major market participants are trying to outsmart the cycle itself.
With almost two years remaining until the halving and the current price holding near $63,600, investors have an opportunity to price future scarcity into their strategies long before the usual time frame.
By trying to buy before those who usually buy early, large investors risk completely blurring the traditional timing of the pre-halving rally. Whether this attempt to get ahead of the market can break Bitcoin’s historical patterns will become clear over the next year.
