There Is Activity in the U.S.’s $25 Billion in Bitcoin Holdings

A new Bitcoin ($BTC) transfer has occurred in a cryptocurrency wallet reportedly belonging to the US government. According to data from the blockchain analytics platform Arkham Intelligence, a government-linked address moved a small portion of Bitcoin, seized from Alameda Research accounts on Binance US approximately three years ago, to another address.

Although the transaction size was relatively small, its origin attracted attention in the cryptocurrency market. According to data from the Arkham screen, approximately 0.0048 $BTC, worth about $377 at current prices, was transferred from wallets linked to the US government.

The small transfer amount doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a direct preparation for a sale. Such transactions are sometimes carried out for wallet management, test transfers, changes to custody infrastructure, or the reorganization of assets between different addresses.

However, the fact that these Bitcoins were seized from accounts linked to Alameda Research has turned investors’ attention to other assets held by the government.

US Government Holds Large Amounts of Bitcoin

According to Arkham data, approximately 324,552 $BTC are held in addresses associated with the US government. At current prices, with Bitcoin trading around $78,500, the total value of these assets reaches approximately $25.5 billion.

Currently, there is no confirmed statement from the government indicating it is preparing to sell these Bitcoins. The relatively small size of the transfer also strengthens the possibility that this could be a test operation.
