VerifiedX launches $15M Bitcoin funding round

VerifiedX Foundation launched a $15 million financing round on Sept. 9 with Cantor Fitzgerald as its investment banking partner, aiming to expand institutional infrastructure for Bitcoin-backed products.

VerifiedX said in an announcement that it had already secured initial institutional capital. However, the foundation did not disclose how much it has raised, the investors involved, the financing structure or the valuation used for the transactions.

Cantor Fitzgerald is serving as the project’s investment banking partner. The announcement did not describe Cantor’s precise mandate or indicate whether the firm had underwritten, placed or committed capital to the round. Cantor had not published a separate announcement confirming additional terms when this article was prepared.

The $15 million figure represents the financing target rather than a completed raise. VerifiedX has not released a closing date, minimum subscription amount or schedule for announcing further participants. Its claim that institutional investors have already joined therefore cannot be quantified from the information available.

The foundation said proceeds would support institutional Bitcoin distribution, custody connections, centralized exchange listings and lending services. No regulatory filing or independently audited financing document confirming the amount received was publicly identified as of Sept. 10.

VerifiedX is raising institutional money for Bitcoin infrastructure and the name it led with is Cantor Fitzgerald.

Funding targets BitGo custody and Base integration

VerifiedX plans to use part of the capital to expand custody relationships, including an integration with BitGo for vBTC and vBTC.b. The project describes vBTC as a Bitcoin-collateralized token operating on the VerifiedX network, while vBTC.b is its counterpart for applications on Coinbase’s Base network.

The announcement said BitGo would hold both assets for institutional users. However, BitGo had not issued a separate public release confirming the integration’s scope, launch date or operational status. The relationship and planned expansion should therefore be treated as claims from VerifiedX.

VerifiedX’s documentation describes a custody framework using multiparty FROST threshold signatures, deterministic deposits and redemptions, and on-chain reserve verification. It says custodians can retain control of underlying Bitcoin while clients use corresponding vBTC in programmable applications.

The project also laims every vBTC is backed one-for-one by Bitcoin and is redeemable for native BTC. Those statements describe the protocol’s intended design. They do not replace independent proof of reserves, legal analysis or continuing verification of collateral.

Exchange listings and lending remain pending

VerifiedX said unnamed “tier-one” centralized exchanges would list vBTC and its native VFX token. The first listing announcement is expected “within weeks,” according to the project, but no exchange has independently confirmed plans to support either asset.

Exchange listings remain subject to technical integration, liquidity arrangements and each platform’s internal compliance review. VerifiedX has not disclosed which jurisdictions will receive the tokens or whether access restrictions will apply to U.S. investors.

The financing also targets lending programs that would allow customers to borrow against Bitcoin or lend assets for returns. The project says these facilities would preserve ownership and redemption rights, but it has not published lending partners, collateral ratios, interest rates or liquidation terms.

In related coverage, institutional adoption may depend more on Bitcoin custody and collateral use than trading volume, as crypto.news previously reported. Lending products require custody controls, reliable valuation, collateral monitoring and clear procedures for handling defaults.

VerifiedX faces several execution tests

VerifiedX operates an open-source layer-1 network and Bitcoin sidechain, according to its public repository. Its website presents vBTC alongside payment, wallet and artificial-intelligence products, including BFLY, SwitchBlade and PulseXAI.

The project lists security assessments completed by Halborn in November 2025 and for vBTC v2 in March 2026. Copies are available through its audit page. An audit evaluates code within a defined scope and does not guarantee that future deployments will remain free from vulnerabilities.

VerifiedX must now close the financing, implement the BitGo connection and secure exchange participation. It must also establish sufficient liquidity for vBTC redemption and any lending facilities it launches.

The next stated milestone is the first centralized exchange announcement, which VerifiedX expects within weeks. Until an exchange, BitGo or Cantor Fitzgerald publishes additional confirmation, most operational details remain forward-looking claims made by the foundation.
