Animoca’s AIR and Minds Partner With Reap and Pivota to Pilot Agentic Commerce

On October 8, 2026 by voice

AIR and Minds by Animoca Brands are teaming up with stablecoin card company Reap and commerce-infrastructure firm Pivota to let AI agents make purchases for users while proving what those users are entitled to, all without exposing personal details. The first step is a controlled demonstration with a single merchant. The release doesn’t name the merchant or say when the demonstration will happen.

AIR is the layer that connects apps and agents to Moca Chain, the identity network whose mainnet went live at the end of September. Minds, which Animoca launched in February, is a personal AI agent that users run through Telegram or email. Reap is a Hong Kong card issuer that says it processed billions in stablecoin-funded transactions in 2025. It now sits inside Kraken’s parent company: Payward announced the completion of its purchase, valued at up to $600 million, on July 1. Pivota, based in Palo Alto, says shopping agents can currently reach only about the top thousand brands, and it indexes smaller merchants so they can be found.

How the four pieces fit together

The release lays out a proposed design. AIR lets a user share verified attributes and earned entitlements with their Minds agent, which can then claim offers or access without handing over the underlying data. The agent works out what the user wants and runs the purchase. Pivota picks the product, merchant and route using live pricing and availability, plus what each merchant supports, then places the order through the merchant’s existing commerce stack. Reap issues the card, creates payment credentials limited to specific merchants, amounts and time windows, applies coupons and completes checkout. Pivota says it never touches the flow of funds and that merchants stay the merchant of record.

Merchants are meant to see little change. Their loyalty programs, eligibility rules and promotions would work inside purchases that Minds leads, and their storefront workflows would stay as they are. The pitch to them is access to what the release calls “qualified agentic users.”

A one-merchant demo comes first

The demonstration is meant to run the full sequence once. It starts with cryptographic proof of eligibility, then moves to product and merchant selection through Pivota, applies an offer, has Reap issue a scoped payment credential and ends with authorization of the transaction. Yat Siu, Animoca’s co-founder and executive chairman, said agents “should not have to interact with digital ecosystems as unverified entities.” Reap co-founder Daren Guo described the problem from the payments side: most agents still can’t prove who they represent or what they’re allowed to spend. He called the project a pilot and an early step.

Animoca has tried agent shopping before. In July it said it had completed a live pilot with Visa in Hong Kong, in which Minds agents found card rewards and completed purchases within limits the user set. This design brings in AIR’s identity credentials and a stablecoin-focused card issuer.

Agent payments are getting crowded

Other companies are building pieces of the same stack. MoonPay launched MoonAgents Card in May, a virtual Mastercard that lets agents spend stablecoins straight from an onchain wallet. Reap and Visa said on September 23 that they’d explore agentic payments within user-defined limits as part of a stablecoin card expansion across more than 100 markets. Verona, a network backed by Animoca, launched a stablecoin for agent payments on September 28. Animoca’s contribution to the mix is the identity piece, a way for an agent to carry proof of what its owner qualifies for.

What the announcement doesn’t settle

The release calls this a strategic partnership, but its own wording is more tentative. The architecture is “proposed,” the partnership “aims to” integrate the pieces, and the demonstration comes first. No merchant is named, no dates are given and nothing says whether real money will move. The card network isn’t specified either, nor is whether a stablecoin balance funds the purchase, which would fit a stablecoin company but isn’t stated. Who issues the entitlements an agent would claim, and how a merchant verifies the proof at checkout, go unexplained.

Responsibility is open too. If an agent buys the wrong item or blows through its limits, the release doesn’t say who handles the dispute, and Pivota describes itself as staying out of the funds flow. Projects such as the evidence layer Mysten Labs and Google Cloud are building for enterprise agents aim at proving after the fact that an agent stayed within its authority, but nothing here says Animoca’s stack uses anything similar. For now there’s no word on when the combined flow could reach Minds users.
