Ronin Ethereum Layer 2 Transition Supported by $5–7M Grants

On September 9, 2025 by voice

Ronin Network, the blockchain behind the famous game Axie Infinity, is making a major change. According to Cointelegraph, Ronin is moving to Ethereum’s Layer 2 using Optimism’s OP Stack. This upgrade promises 15 times faster transactions, better security, and a connection to a bigger network called the Superchain, which includes platforms like Base and Uniswap.

To top that, Ronin is offering $5 to $7 million in the form of grants to help developers build on the new network. This move shows how blockchain is growing to be faster, more safe and connected.

Why Ronin Is Changing

Ronin started as a sidechain to Ethereum. It was made to handle the fast-growing players in Axie Infinity. But as the game got bigger, the team noticed the network could actually be faster and more efficient.

Switching to Ethereum Layer 2 fixes that. Transactions will happen faster and cost less. Security will also have an improvement. Simply saying, this means that players can enjoy a smoother gameplay, and developers can create more apps without worrying about slow or expensive transactions.

What the OP Stack Does

The OP Stack is a tool from Optimism that helps blockchains to run faster while also letting it stay safe. By using it, Ronin can keep Ethereum’s security benefits but avoid the slow transactions and expensive fees.

This change also lets Ronin work very easily with other Layer 2 networks in the Superchain. That means players and developers can easily use apps on other platforms, like Base or Uniswap, without really leaving Ronin.

Grants to Encourage Developers

To make the move successful, Ronin is giving $5 to $7 million in milestone grants. Developers who hit specific targets will get the funding. This encourages more people to build on the upgraded network and keeps the ecosystem growing stronger.

These grants are basically like a helping hand to make sure that the new network is buzzing, useful and full of interesting apps from the start itself.

Superchain Makes Things Bigger and Better

Joining Ethereum Layer 2 also gives Ronin access to the Superchain ecosystem, a group of connected Layer 2 networks. This connection enables faster transactions, more liquidity and a better connection between the platforms.

Players gain because they can use tools on other networks without actually leaving Ronin. Developers have an advantage because they can reach more users and make their apps more useful. This kind of teamwork makes the entire blockchain world more open and connected.

What’s Next for Ronin

Moving to Ethereum Layer 2 is quite a big step for Ronin. With the OP Stack, faster transactions, stronger security and connection to the Superchain, the network is ready for growth.

Players, developers and investors can look forward to having a more smooth and trustworthy experience. This move also shows an even bigger trend in blockchain. That networks are using Layer 2 solutions to grow without actually losing speed or safety.

Ronin’s transition proves that blockchains can change to meet demands while also keeping trust and performance. It also sets a good example for other projects that are trying to expand safely and efficiently.

Final Thoughts

Ronin’s upgrade is more than just a tech change. It is about making things faster, safer and more connected for everyone. With grants for developers and access to the Superchain, both the players and creators get new chances to grow.

In short, this move makes the network stronger and opens up new possibilities. It also shows how Layer 2 solutions are shaping the future of blockchain games and apps.
