Strategy moves $66M Bitcoin as a $102.6M short appears: Is a volatility spike coming?
Strategy-linked wallets moved another 1,030 $BTC worth $66.14M, reviving debate over whether institutional holders had turned more defensive.
Although the company has repeatedly moved Bitcoin between wallets without selling, the latest transaction arrived as market sentiment remained fragile.
However, attention quickly shifted toward derivatives after a newly created wallet deposited 2.44 million USDC into Hyperliquid and opened a 40x leveraged short worth roughly $102.6 million on Bitcoin.
The position carried a liquidation price of $64,888.97, placing it close to the prevailing market price. Together, both transactions intensified bearish speculation because they appeared within hours of each other.
Binance whales step up exchange activity
Large holders also increased their presence on Binance, adding another layer to Bitcoin’s evolving market structure.
The Binance Whale Inflow Ratio climbed to 0.52, its highest reading in the past four months, indicating whales contributed a larger share of exchange inflows than smaller participants.
Historically, similar spikes have appeared near both market tops and capitulation phases. This made the signal highly dependent on surrounding price action instead of serving as a standalone bearish trigger.
However, higher whale participation on exchanges often increases the probability of elevated selling pressure because more coins become immediately accessible for trading.
The broader Spot flow picture remained relatively balanced despite the increase in whale activity, with the latest daily Spot Netflow recording a positive $21.10 million, reflecting fresh Bitcoin entering exchanges instead of leaving them.

Buyers protect support, but resistance still dominated
Bitcoin [$BTC] continued defending the $62,162 support level while trading near $64,137, preventing sellers from extending the previous decline.
Instead of recovering aggressively, price spent several sessions moving inside a relatively tight range beneath the $66,835 resistance.
This left bulls with another major hurdle before reclaiming the broader trend. The RSI recovered to 50.98 after previously slipping below the neutral zone, reflecting improving buying strength without entering overbought territory.
Rather than producing an immediate breakout signal, the indicator stabilized around equilibrium and matched the market’s sideways structure.
Therefore, buyers would likely need a decisive close above $66,835 to strengthen bullish conviction.
Failure to reclaim that barrier could keep Bitcoin rotating between support and resistance until fresh volume tipped the balance.

Where $BTC liquidation pressure could strike next
The liquidation heatmap identified two nearby zones capable of driving the next volatility event.
The largest concentration of short liquidations rested around the $65,000 region, while another significant liquidity pocket remained near $63,800 beneath the current market price.
Since leveraged positions clustered on both sides, Bitcoin retained the potential to trigger sharp directional moves once either liquidity pool attracted price.
A push above $65,000 would likely force short sellers to unwind positions, accelerating upside volatility toward higher resistance.
However, another rejection could expose the lower liquidity cluster and pressure overleveraged longs instead.
The balanced distribution of liquidation levels therefore reflected an indecisive derivatives market rather than a confirmed directional trend, keeping traders alert for whichever side lost control first.

Final Summary
- Strategy transfers and rising Binance whale inflows have increased caution across the Bitcoin market.
- Bitcoin continues defending support, but $66.8K remains the key barrier buyers must overcome.
