Bitcoin Treasury Giant Holding 2,712 BTC Loses Strategy Chief With No Successor Named

On August 27, 2026 by voice

  • Jesse Myers will step down as head of strategy on September 1, according to an official notification from The Smarter Web Company issued on August 25.
  • The company reported reserves of 2,712 $BTC and an active £18.5 million credit line with Coinbase on its balance sheet as of August 3.
  • The board of directors will maintain overall oversight of the treasury policy, but has not named a replacement for operational duties.

Jesse Myers has resigned as head of strategic operations at The Smarter Web Company. Reports indicate that the executive will leave his post effective September 1, keeping its Bitcoin treasury under the direct oversight of the board of directors without naming a successor.

I’m sad to say my time at The Smarter Web Company has come to an end.

I joined SWC because I believed there was an opportunity to help build something genuinely important in the Bitcoin treasury space. I’m proud of the role I played in helping shape the company’s Bitcoin…

The corporate notification published on August 25 did not specify the reasons for the departure, nor did it detail how the technical duties associated with the role will be reassigned. Myers had been part of the senior executive team since January, with responsibilities centered on purchase execution, internal analytics management, and technical relations with institutional investors.

The company’s board of directors announced that it will retain overall authority over strategy, governance, and corporate risk management. Market report data indicates that the board periodically reviews reserves relative to the company’s market valuation before authorizing new capital deployments.

As of August 3, the entity’s balance sheet recorded cumulative net purchases of Bitcoin valued at £224.8 million. The net average purchase price stood at £82,886 per unit, according to the latest treasury update provided by the firm.

Financial commitments and fund governance

The Smarter Web Company’s balance sheet structure includes active institutional leverage. The financial report as of August 3 detailed a drawdown of £18.5 million through a credit facility provided by Coinbase, representing an approximate leverage ratio of 17%.

This credit line carries a variable interest rate of 6% per annum and is collateralized by the entity’s cryptocurrency holdings. Corporate filings state that the assets are not held under direct self-custody, but are distributed across multiple regulated institutional providers.

The company’s financing framework had already seen adjustments during the third quarter. On July 23, the firm liquidated 177.89 $BTC to settle an $11.7 million debt under the financial instrument known as Smarter Convert.

That redemption allowed the cancellation of 7,718,551 potential shares to mitigate equity dilution. However, analyses suggest that the handover of technical responsibilities remains temporarily vacant within capital allocation and per-share performance metrics.

On the equity market, reports from Alliance News recorded a 5.8% drop in the firm’s shares on August 25, settling at 33.20 pence following news of the executive’s departure. The company has not linked this market movement to the internal restructuring.

The next operational milestone for The Smarter Web Company will occur on September 1, the date set for Myers’ formal departure and the launch of the new governance framework under the exclusive direction of its board.
