Will Bitcoin Price Fall Below $75,000 Today Ahead of CPI?
Bitcoin is trading at $76,992.66, up 1.1% over 24 hours but roughly flat for the week, as experts weigh whether today’s CPI print could push price below $75,000 ahead of next week’s Clarity Act vote and Fed decision.
Why CPI Matters Today
Wednesday’s hotter-than-expected PPI reading triggered a brief selloff, with Bitcoin down about 1%, Solana down 1% to 2%, and XRP down roughly 4%, though those losses have since fully retraced.
Core CPI year-over-year is expected at 2.4%, down slightly from 2.5%. Analysts say they don’t expect that decline to materialize, predicting CPI comes in hotter and could reignite selling pressure.
Beyond CPI, two catalysts are also making headlines. Tuesday’s Senate vote on the Clarity Act, and next Wednesday’s Fed decision. However, if Clarity fails to pass, the path for a 2026 signing by the President could be out of the window.
Levels In Focus
Analyst Michaël van de Poppe flagged $75,500 as the level that matters most in the near term, saying a sweep below it could bring Bitcoin down to $74,500, which he described as an ideal area to look for long entries. He said Bitcoin doesn’t necessarily need to sweep that level, but said doing so would help generate liquidity and rebuild momentum.
Another analyst said that even a further pullback wouldn’t necessarily be bad news, and could instead be forming a larger bullish pattern, as long as Bitcoin holds above the mid-$60,000 range.
He pointed to major support just above $76,000. He also cited a build-up of downside liquidity around $76,100 as a factor pulling price lower, and said he wouldn’t be surprised to see Bitcoin dip into the $76,000 range in the coming days, calling it a likely near-term target rather than a guarantee.
Whether Bitcoin holds above $75,000 today likely hinges on how CPI lands and how markets position into next week’s Clarity vote and Fed meeting.
