Bitwise Investment Director Attributes Bitcoin’s Rise Despite Strategy’s Sale to Strong Demand! Here Are the Details
Bitwise Investment Director Matt Hougan said that despite Strategy selling over $200 million worth of Bitcoin, the rise in the BTC price indicates strong buying demand in the market. Hougan stated that the sale does not mean the company is experiencing financial difficulties, but rather was carried out as part of capital management.
According to Hougan’s assessment, Strategy’s Bitcoin sale should be considered part of a capital management strategy aimed at meeting the company’s dividend payment and cash management needs. Therefore, the transaction does not indicate increased selling pressure in the Bitcoin market or that Strategy was forced to reduce its position due to funding problems.
Strategy holds a significant position in the market as one of the largest institutional companies that has long held Bitcoin on its balance sheet. The company’s purchases and sales are closely monitored by investors due to their potential impact on the Bitcoin price.
However, Hougan said he expects Strategy’s influence on the Bitcoin price to diminish over time. According to the Bitwise executive, as institutional investors gain more weight in the market, they will increasingly assume the role of primary marginal buyers for Bitcoin.
This shift is seen as potentially expanding the Bitcoin market to a wider investor base. In particular, the growth of spot Bitcoin ETFs, asset managers, and other institutional investment vehicles is contributing to the diversification of capital flowing into the market.
Hougan’s comments suggest that the fact that the price continued to rise despite a large Bitcoin investor selling indicates that there are enough buyers in the market to absorb these sales. This supports the assessment that Bitcoin demand can strengthen independently of the transactions of a single company.
