Bitcoin Price Faces $54M Whale Short Before Clarity Act Vote
Bitcoin price is caught between ETF inflows, institutional selling and a massive $54 million whale short ahead of the Clarity Act vote. The latest data doesn’t exactly scream confidence, with traders watching $75,000 and $83,000 as the levels that could decide the next move.
Bitcoin ETFs Recover Daily Despite Weekly Outflows
Bitcoin ETFs recorded a 1D net inflow of 1,917 $BTC, worth $147.42 million, on September 15. But zoom out and the picture gets less comfortable. The 7D netflow remains negative at 4,372 $BTC, equivalent to $336.16 million in outflows.
Ethereum ETFs, meanwhile, are showing considerably stronger flows. They posted $95.44 million in one-day inflows and $221.91 million over seven days, giving ETH a noticeably stronger ETF flow profile right now.
Bitcoin Miners Keep Moving Toward AI
The mining side brings another problem. CoinShares says the migration of Bitcoin miners toward AI has reached a point where even a $BTC recovery may not reverse the trend.
At least 35 EH/s is already slated to leave listed miners. IREN reportedly plans to exit by year-end, while Cipher could follow by the end of 2027.
That doesn’t automatically mean a collapse for $BTC. It does show the mining industry is increasingly being pulled toward another opportunity.
Bitcoin Price Faces $54M Whale Short
Then there’s the whale trade. A whale with a reported 77% win rate and more than $1 million in profits has opened a $54 million $BTC short position just hours before the Clarity Act voting. The timing alone is enough to get traders asking what the whale knows.
Institutional selling has also reportedly accelerated. Whether that’s de-risking before the vote or positioning for a potential failure remains unclear.
Bitcoin Price Needs $83K To Confirm Bottom

On the hourly chart, the immediate battlefield is becoming clearer. Sell orders are sitting around $80,000–$83,000, while buy orders are concentrated around $75,000–$76,500.
A break above $83,000 would confirm the bear-market bottom under this setup. But if Bitcoin price loses $75,000, the downtrend could accelerate.
For now, Bitcoin price is stuck between two very different signals: fresh daily ETF demand on one side and heavier institutional selling, miner migration and a $54 million whale short on the other.
