Analyst with 30 Years of Experience Weighs In on the Future of Bitcoin and Altcoins
Macro investor Jordi Visser has indicated a significant shift in his views on Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency market, stating that the convergence of artificial intelligence and crypto infrastructure could pave the way for a new era of growth for the sector.
Visser, previously known for his more cautious approach to the markets, was described in the program as having “always gone from bear to bull,” with him stating that the shift of cryptocurrency from speculation to real use cases was the key factor making him optimistic.
According to Visser, the cryptocurrency market has now reached a critical stage. The renowned investor argued that the bullish outlook is not solely based on liquidity conditions or money printing, but rather on the integration of innovation into the crypto infrastructure. Visser stated that it is far more important for the market that crypto assets cease to be merely tools for price speculation and are instead used in daily economic activities.
At the heart of Visser’s thesis are artificial intelligence agents. According to the investor, high-speed transactions between digital agents in the future will require a payment infrastructure different from the current financial system. Visser believes that stablecoins and blockchain networks like Ethereum and Solana will play a significant role in this. Suggesting that the use of AI agents in the crypto ecosystem could grow “parabolically” once they begin making transactions, Visser sees the upcoming period as one in which consumer-focused AI agents will become widespread.
However, Visser believes that Bitcoin will not fulfill the same role as stablecoins in this system. According to the analyst, Bitcoin’s primary role is not so much as a means of payment, but rather as a long-term store of value and collateral asset. Visser noted that Bitcoin has been chosen by hundreds of millions of people as a digital store of value, and considered its survival through numerous bear markets a significant indicator of resilience.
Visser sees Bitcoin as one of the few assets that will be completely unaffected by future technological transformation. While noting that artificial intelligence can rapidly change companies, business models, and existing investments, the investor argues that Bitcoin can provide long-term portfolio protection against other assets. According to the analyst, Bitcoin’s importance stems not from the fact that it will necessarily rise when the market falls in the short term, but from its high probability of surviving in the face of technological transformation.
Visser stated that the main problem Bitcoin has faced recently is that investors are seeking higher returns in other areas, and that the rise in AI investments in the first part of the year did not create a strong reason to turn to Bitcoin. However, arguing that the connection between traditional finance and crypto is beginning to strengthen, Visser believes that tokenization, Ethereum, Solana, and other blockchain infrastructures can attract significant capital to the sector. According to Visser, this capital inflow will also benefit Bitcoin over time. Visser also believes that Bitcoin’s past ideological identity is changing. He noted that Bitcoin has moved from an initial investor base that advocated for independence from governments and decentralization to a broader investor base focused on portfolio diversification, interpreting this as a result of systems merging over time rather than completely eliminating each other.
The renowned investor recently made some very strong statements regarding Bitcoin’s long-term future. Visser stated that Bitcoin is the only technology he is confident will still exist within the crypto ecosystem and the current fiat system 20 years from now, arguing that while technological innovation can rapidly transform many other assets and companies, Bitcoin will be able to maintain its role as “collateral” and “stability” within the system.
