Here's how much $1,000 Bitcoin investment made when Jim Cramer said 'buy crypto' is now worth
While there has been no shortage of Jim Cramer’s bearish takes regarding Bitcoin ($BTC) in recent months, his ‘buy crypto’ comment from September 2025 rings true into 2026 thanks to being anchored to the U.S. national debt.

Indeed, the former hedge fund manager and Mad Money host’s apparent recommendation to invest in cryptocurrencies was tied to an image of a debt calculator showing the total at $37.6 trillion. With the number standing at $40.18 trillion at press time on September 21, 2026, the ‘Buy’ rating seems more relevant than it did a year ago.

Still, Jim Cramer has also become famous for making incorrect predictions – often with dramatic timing – and his bullish take about cryptocurrencies from September 29, 2025, appears to be part of this tradition.
Specifically, Bitcoin was changing hands at $111,908 at the time of the X post, while at press time, it is trading at $83,731. Thus, listening to Jim Cramer’s recommendation and putting $1,000 into $BTC would have led to a 25.18% loss and a position worth $748.21.

Investing in other cryptocurrencies when Jim Cramer said ‘buy crypto’ is now worth
Meanwhile, Cramer’s ‘buy crypto’ remarks would have led to losses no matter the major digital asset an investor chose. For example, Ethereum (ETH) was trading at $4,144 on the day and is, on Monday, September 21, at $2,696.
Thus, $1,000 would have dropped by 34.94% to $650.58.
$XRP – another popular cryptocurrency – was trading at $2.87 on September 29, 2025, and is, at press time, at $1.48. Thus, the $1,000 investment would have lost 48.43% and dropped to $515.68.

Is the crypto market headed for new all-time highs before 2027?
Elsewhere, the recent movements in the cryptocurrency market could lead to a rally above the prices recorded roughly one year ago. Not only has the entire digital assets market experienced a substantial rally in late August, but it has, after several weeks of consolidation, seen another upsurge since mid-September.
Notably, the total cryptocurrency market capitalization stood at $2.97 trillion at the start of 2026, fell as low as $2.02 trillion by late June and then climbed an impressive $820 billion to $2.84 trillion by press time on September 21, diminishing the year-to-date (YTD) losses to 3.39%.

The recent movements also led multiple investors, analysts, and other observers to conclude it is plausible the bear market is at an end, and that major digital assets including Bitcoin could again soar toward their previous highs before the end of the year.
