Following China’s announcement that it would impose sweeping export controls starting November 1, 2025, US President Donald Trump announced that Washington would take countermeasures on the same date.
Trump, in a statement on Truth Social, stated that China plans to impose export restrictions on “almost every product it manufactures and even some that it doesn’t,” calling the decision “an unprecedented step in international trade and a moral scandal.”
“In response to this action, the United States will impose a 100% tariff on all products from China, in addition to existing tariffs, effective November 1, 2025. On the same date, new export controls on critical software will also go into effect,” Trump said.
Trump also concluded his statement by saying, “It is incredible that China would take such a step, but they did it and now history is made.”
